Any limit in the Text1.txt?

Post by Nomada_Firefox »

Lately I have seen units which they do not load their correct text description and they load the text description from other new units added before.

Any thought?

There is no limit to the text file entries. It could be some internal limit for unit count, or incorrect string IDs in the data.

I discovered the problem. There are two problems.

When the text1.txt file is in "CAMPAIGNS/MAIN/" the scenario editor does not show the tooltips from new units or edits, it is not used by the scenario editor.

If the text1.txt file was in \Data\Text\ from a mod, the new text would not be loaded and you would see the problems told in my first answer in this thread, very normal.

Anyway, the problem is the scenario editor, it does not load these text.

And one question. In my customized text1.txt must I load all the text from the game? or only the edits and new text lines?

Ah. So this is an issue when using a mod in the editor, or in the game itself?

By default I thought how the map editor would not load edited stuff if I did not replace some files in the main game, this what I have made with the terrain.txt and some model additions.

But the problems are in the game loading the mod files. The scenario editor in game with the mod selected does not show the correct name descriptions.

And with some 3D models, it does not show the turrets from some vehicles. But I considerer it a minor problem.

OK - I will add a note for mod support in the map editor, and take a look at the scenario editor issue.

Hmmm - it certainly looks as if the ingame text substitution should work. Is it all strings which are failing to display correctly, or only some? Can you give me a specific example? They should over-ride in either the DATA/TEXT or CAMPAIGNS/MAIN folder in the mod.

I have recorded a small video showing the problem.

I think it would be much simpler to see what is going on if you can give me a copy of the mod, and then an example of a specific unit whose string is set up correctly but is not displaying as expected.
