How to raise salary of Secretary?

I've already fired 1 of them. I think secretaries just hate their job after awhile no matter what you do lol.

I was wondering this myself playing my first game. Been using strategems to try and raise it.

On the flipside, what impact does an unhappy secretary have? I am unfamiliar with what they influence in terms of rolls and events.

At the moment it is position that is not paid much ( < 1Cr = its abstracted ).

However it is possible to play the Human Resource stratagems on your Secretary like "Medal of Merit".

I might well bring the secretary in the fold with the others, but not sure yet. I quite like this position being different.

The best secretary is one that is inline with your regime profiles and that has low ambition and low egoism personality.

Oh, great! That is exactly the opposite as the secretary in my new game. (and he unsuccessfully tried to improve his intimidation skills)

It seems when you relieve (since its relation was so low i did not give him another position) the secretary you don't get to choose who replaces them? thankfully the one i wanted to be chosen was.
In the past i have reassigned Leaders so it was the first time i did not this time, not sure if that had anything to do with not being able to choose who the new Secretary will be? I was able to choose who to replace with other leader roles.

Yes, this can be frustrating. Because one secretary started a coup against me, this time when she got to 23 I fired her. It put in her place the special governor I had hand-picked for the first city I was about to take. Thank the great God of reload prior game for saving me

Hmm. I wonder if this was by design you can't choose who to replace them with or it's a bug? it might be the former to make things interesting perhaps.

The rule book states secretary is not choosen by you but by your council or senate or what ever elected body exists.

Being unable to choose how much to pay your secretary doesn't seem logical considering you have the ability to choose your secretary. Either make it a position you have *no* control over or give us control of both their appointment and their salary. Right now it's weird and frustrating that I can't set his salary and the fire/rehire process feels like a hack workaround more than a thematic mechanic.

That's my feeling. Feel free to disagree.

Yeah, but if she doesn't like you, the effect will only last a couple of weeks. Then you are right back where you started, BUT cannot play another "medal of merit" card. [:(]

I too am suffering from a relation 8 Secretary, the rest is all fine. I am not going to keep playing cards on the dude. But it doesn't feel right. I would love something extra we can do here. At the very least choosing the replacement ourselves, but I really want something more.

I thought we could choose the replacement ourselves. But I loaded an old game and confirmed that it looks like I couldn't. I'm actually kind of ok with this.

Come to feel that there is nothing I like about this. I can't see how it models anything having anything to do with human interaction. It seems to always move towards zero, no way to fix it except fire them, and some cosmic being assigns one of your staff to the position for you. Just no.

One thing you can do per...replacing a disgruntled secretary is have someone 'waiting in the wings' via the 'Stratagem Cards'.
When the time is right to either relieve (& offer a another position or not) or...dare I say assassinate; you will as supreme leader will be ready to do what is...neccessary. [:)]

You can easily raise relations with your secretary by using any of the cards that let you give money to raise relations or any of the other cards that allow you to raise relations. There is also the courtesan card, random events that happen to raise relations, etc. My secretary had gone down to like 10 relations but then i started giving the secretary money (through cards), medals and other things (through cards) and the relation was returned to a high level

Playing the $100 relation booster strategy cards on my secretary is what I've been doing.

But don't you see the irony that we're spending money to raise relations with the secretary because... we can't simply spend money to raise relations with the secretary?

If anything, Vic's argument for why we shouldn't be allowed to give our Secretary a raise is also an argument to change that card so we can't play it on our Secretary.

Exactly. It is annoying and makes no sense. I have no problem at all with having the secretary have some special mechanics different from directors, but being forced to pay someone 1 credit, them getting ticked off, and when you fire them some unknown being forces one of your staff into the position has no upside.

Ok. I am caving in. Next Open Beta i am adding ability to set Secretary salary.
