Program Issue

Post by Mark Breed »

I am creating a scenario for the game. I got my order of battle defined and the game is indicating in the scenario properties that my scenario is valid. So, even though it is not complete, I decided to take a look at how the scenario currently looks in the game.

However, something weird has happened. Even though I only have one scenario file, when I load it as a new game to play, the scenario loaded is an old version (several days if not weeks old) of the scenario. It shows old objective hexes with old values; formations that are supposedly set to delay being able to be moved, etc.

The scenario in the game folder indicates that it is the most current saved file date (today). I have opened the scenario in two windows, the scenario editor mode and in the new game mode, to compare and they are two different versions. The scenario editor does not show the same objectives nor objective values. How can this be when there is only one scenario file?

Does anybody have a clue as to what has happened?

Thank you for any help.

According to a search of my C drive, I have only one scenario file with that name and it is located where I thought it was.

This is one of the weirdest experiences I have had with a game file.

I have even tried renaming the file and loading it again.

And, I have rebooted the computer.

A dump of the scenario file indicates the exact number of Events as I currently have made. However, the "valued objectives" listed in the dump are wrong.

I do see this in the dump. Not sure what it means:
Force:USA.
( USA) [pre-conjugated force name needed for localized scenarios].

and,
Force:CSA.
( CSA) [pre-conjugated force name needed for localized scenarios].

Thank you for any guidance.

C:\Users\<your computer name>\Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Scenarios\<folder named exactly as your scenario>

This is where your game will look for a user made scenario. At least last I heard.

I believe that I found the issue. I had removed objectives without removing there values. The values stayed in the scenario.
