Price difference between buying/selling

Post by Dampfnudel »

Can somebody explain how the logic between resource prices works?
Rare metals sell for 0.5$ and cost 10.2 to buy.
No market in the world looks like that.

Suggestion:
The price should be the same with a fee attached. 2$+0.25$ fee to buy and 2$-0.25$ to sell.

The traders are reactive. At game start prices will depend upon the type of planet.....expect an inability to sell water on a water world for example whilst prices for water on a desert planet will be at a premium....so far so straightforward....

As the game progresses however traders evidently respond from turn to turn based on your activity in the market. In my current game for example I am relying on selling my big surpluses of metal to allow me to purchase fuel which I am critically short of. The first trade was at reasonable prices...by the time of the third or fourth trade the traders had caught on and the price I was paid for my metal was slumping whilst the fuel price was increasing markedly....routine market economics.

If traders know you are consistently in need of a product it unsurprising you are getting rinsed when you return again and again to buy....

Also they trade between countries so your local trader will sell that to neighbor trader from time to time to get their margin. Like in Stellaris you need the global market to cooldown but usually AI will buy or sell the same thing as you + if they play better usually it gonna be worse like machine you buy it every time it gonna go from 30 at the beginning to 300 mid game.
