Merging units?

Just stack them & move as a group.

Move the units to the same hex. Then click the Transfer/BG button (right side, bottom option). This will allow you to merge units. I do this with the GR Infantry units as i get new ones to make a single stronger unit.

They're in a stack right now, do they need move points to merge? I just recruited 5000 riflemen but they're in five units of a thousand each. How do I merge units so it's 2,000 and 3,000?

Oh, you can't really. The size and composition of a unit depends on its TOE, and you don't really have a say on it.
You'd have to raise a formation of the upper level (i.e. a corps if you had a brigade) if you want bigger units.
Otherwise you could try to make a Battle Group but I've never tried it yet and can't really tell if it would work.

It is possible iirc, randomly clicking on UI stuff at the beginning of my time with the game (few days ago now) I opened a whole interface for switching units around. I think it was right hand side at the bottom, but not 100%.

I figured it out. Click on the unit, then "transfer/bg", and there'll be a screen where you can create new brigades, etc. for 2PP. Transfer units into the new BG.
