How much ammo is "enough"?

How much ammo is "enough"?

Since the forum search engine don't allow for searching for anything that includes the word "ammo" (or maybe because I am unable to work it), I feel the need to inquire if there is any rule of thumb with regards to how much ammo is enough?

Aside from the "more is better" approach I mean [:)]

It's pretty cheap to manufacture. Generally speaking you just wanna make sure you have a net positive per turn, and keep it stockpiled before/during a war.

If you're ever in the situation where all your industrial points are being spent on buildings remember that you can set Construction% on each building so they consume less IP and other resources and you can spend it on ammo/more military units.

For the time being, I've been maintaining the stocks at about 200 units, but if I ever reach late game I would probably make the buffer bigger to catch up with the increasing number of troops and therefore ammunition consumption.
At any rate, ammo seems relatively cheap to make, so you could very well make a big bunch of it and not care about it for a while.

any time i dip under 1k ammo I make another 2k, because it can get wildly swingy in how muhc ammo you draw when you suddenly engage in mass combat action, especially with high-tier weapons (gauss sucks down so much ammo, for instance)
