Good game but I'll have to wait to play

Good game but I'll have to wait to play
15-16 hours trying to get life on seth, and no luck. I give up. I can't even generate OLD seth planets, all I keep getting are young planets or too cold planets or if there is a 6billion+year seth world its too cold for life. All I wanted to do was play an arrakis style planet. And its even worse because people say they've generated worms on seth, and after 15-16 hours (that does not include breaks in between and going to bed). Its just not possible for me.
Hopefully in the future the planets will be more customizable. But I'm too frustrated that my RNG is so bad and others somehow get such good RNG they get worms on seth. Thats too BS for me. But I do have the worst RNG luck. I played custom DnD game and I had to roll a ONE, yup a one (a real life DnD game). We used a custom 101 sided dice...0-100.
So all I have to do is roll ONE? Nope, rolled a zero.
Thats how bad my luck is in RNG.
The game however is great, but I just can't get life on Seth no matter how long I try and its getting too frustrating to be enjoyable especially when I see others have generated life on it and I've sent almost 24 hours of actual time spent on it and no luck. I really hope there is more customization with the RNG of generating planets.
Its even worse because cerberus can have seas of magma and rivers of lava...and somehow has so much life that it supports complex creatures with skeleton body structure. It can have moss, algae, grass even bushes and shrubs. All with tons of volcanos and magma. How is that possible but not a single worm can be generated on seth except if you win the RNG lottery?

Per life on a Seth Class planet...I will need to see a 'pic' before I am convinced.

RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
Yeah I'm not very convinced there can actually be life there. I guess dastactic generated worms on seth and I doubt he'd lie, BUT it was an old version and maybe the old version allowed it but now it can't happen.ORIGINAL: eddieballgame

However. I'm guessing it was possible back then when dastactic saw it, but then something changed at release. Its just too impossible to get it, after 15 hours pretty sure just not possible at some point
-Biggest planet size (bigger has better chance of life)
-Oldest planet age (oldest has better chance of life)
-roughly 25-40 planet temp (it was 25-30 roughly the first day I tried, but the magma world has life at 40-43 planet degrees so that means life can appear at pretty warm planet temps)
-around 1 gravity
-Earth-like atmosphere (tried heavy atmosphere and didn't seem as good)
so many times just not possible anymore. I'm guessing if dastactic got it before and others saw seth with life in the past, that something changed since then.

If 'Das' said he had life on a Seth Class planet, I believe him.
I missed that part of his videos.
Per the 'tool tip' it does say rare (as opposed to zero); would be nice if, in the future, we could be allowed to tweak the %'s a bit.

All I can say is try some settings you haven't tried yet. If it's not oxygen-based and doesn't care about liquid water maybe it needs very cold temperatures? Who knows.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
It was actually TortugaPower, he is doing a "Dune" style let's play and said dastactic showed him a screenshot of a planet he generated a while ago of seth with worms.
But I'm pretty sure its more than rare
Rare is being struck by lightning in a storm. Nearly impossible is buying a lottery ticket and winning the lotto. That is more in line with generating life on seth (at least for me and my bad RNG that I have terrible luck with to begin with) after 15 hours and over 1000 generations/rerolling so many times lol.
But I'm pretty sure its more than rare

Yeah, I was thinking about that just now. I'm pretty sure it needs earth atmosphere, cause heavy atmosphere seemed to make things worse in the other stats. But I'm wondering if worms in seth need it colder. I went hot because other planets (like the magma/volcano one) gets worms in temps between 40-43. And medusa/siwa get life and worms between 20s and into the low 40s like the volcano one.
But maybe the needs for life are different on seth. Once I relax and do other stuff I'll try again and see if its actually the temp needing to be cooler than the other planets.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
I still don't think its possible. There were some generations where climate was good for farming, but after another 200+ generations I still don't have any luck with getting worms on Seth. I'm even more positive its not possible anymore. Maybe in the past it was, but not anymore.
I did realize temps in 30s seem to be best though. I went to 20s and never got good farming, went to 10s and it was even worse. So I at least probably narrowed that down. Pretty much should be the same as the magma world and medusa/siwa in that regard. Magma world is super super easy to get life on it despite being super harsh planet. That planet SHOULD be rarer than siwa to have life if at all possible, or the other way around and seth being equal or more common to get life. Its not just seth though, ice planet is pretty much same thing I found. That makes me believe there is numbers for % of life that need to be changed for both seth and the ice world. Or maybe the magma world isnt even supposed to have life and its a bug.

I think the movie 'Dune' has convinced some of us there should be life on these types of desert/waterless planets.
I am thinking 'Vic' disagrees. [:)]

Didn't the new patch give us the ability to save start worlds for later use? If so, can those be shared with others? (I'm a newb, so I may not understand the issue, just throwing that out there lol.)

Yes, the save is done automatically after the 'Start Game' screen.
the 'Auto Save' feature must be checked & each new creation over writes the last one.
So, make sure to rename any you want to replay & or share.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
I'm just gonna stick with either a Siwa game or medusa game on a metropolis style planet with 1 billion+ people before apocalypse. I'll have go give up my dune ambitions (for now at least, maybe in the future it'll be different)
Though still find it funny a highly volcanic world with magma lakes and magma rivers can have tons of life. My recent one had giant lizard-like things walking around lol. Not too much a fan of giant lakes of magma though tbh, kinda actually like lakes of ice or deserts.
At least medusa is a lot of fun. Kinda gives off an alpha centuri feel to the game which is 2nd best for me after a dune playstyle.

I'm still fiddling with this game, planet creation and battling never gone past 12 or 13 turns. Just feeling the and learning the mechs. Always played Siwa until today, I just tried Seth found life in others zones.
This is with the new patch 1.2

To clarify, the life forms I am referencing as rare to get is 'alien biology'.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
yes, not other humanoids. But more like "animals" that one can find on cerberus, siwa and medusa. Like worms or arachnids, crustaceans and what not. Seth supposedly can get worms, but don't think its a thing anymore.

oh wow, thanks for the link. So life can show up even if it says there is none in the planet screen. Thats cool, wonder if thats common or not.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
The spiders on Seth class was me - I don't know if it helps but it seemed to me that they were actually a minor faction.

RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
The spiders are a minor faction. I had life on Seth, but it wasn't oxygen breathing. IIRC it was hydrogen-peroxide base life, breathing something or other. Anyway, I was annoyed cause I wanted no wildlife and continued rolling. But it definitely happens with the correct planets and fairly often too.
RE: Good game but I'll have to wait to play
According to the manual, the spider is a class of very hostile minor faction that can be spawned in every planet.
