New zone after capturing a city

I am using v1.02. I have captured 2 cities but their zones don't show on the main map but they do show on the mini map. When I click on the map using the change zone order it shows only an existing zone not the new one. Even when I click on the new city itself it only shows the existing zone. How do I put the new city in its own zone? I tried attaching a saved game file but it wont accept.

Did you surround the city before taking them? In that case the zone of that city is only one hex (the city hex itself). With right click - zone borders you can expand them.

Yep that worked. I thought I had done that previously. The zone lines are so hard to see especially for old man eyes. They need to be thickened a bit I think. Thank you for your quick reply.
