Aircraft and ASW

Post by Mike Carroll »

O.K. I am playing a game against the AI (during my lunch break) and I am the Allies. I have lost 2 or 3 subs to Japanese aircraft, but my aircraft never seem to hit their subs. They are doing a good job finding them. I have float planes on ASW at 1000 feet. I have SBD and Avengers on ASW at 1000 feet. These pilots are at experience 70+ and Morale 80+ but they never seem to hit a Japanese sub. They attack on occassion, but never hit. I have sunk 6 Japanese subs and every one has been depth charged.

Any suggestions to increase the effectiveness of aircraft when hunting subs?

Thanks can't wait for the big game.

Aircraft will rarely attack subs unless that are over 80 experience. As a result what hits I get are usually from search aircraft like PBYs. I also use Husdons and other level bombers in the role with success. Experience is the key.
