Update to 1.03 fails

Post by Pak43 »

Check for update fails.
"An error occurred while trying to open an FTP file"

Can I get the 1.03 file from anywhere else?

"You may also download the latest file directly from our website. Click the website button below to go to the web site and manually download and install the patch"

But there is no button...

Hmm... there should be a button, and it should point you to here: https://www.matrixgames.com/member/downloads/shadow-empire

It might be that the FTP hasn't synced fully to your location yet...

One reason for failure is with your firewall settings.

The updater forced my Windows Firewall to ask permission to access the network. I was somewhat confused what it meant, so I choose 'permission for safe networks only' instead of 'public network'. Then the updater gave me the same error message as you got.

So I opened the firewall settings and allowed incoming traffic on all networks for the 'Universal Updater' process, and after that the update succeeded.

Otherwise, go to the Store, login, go to My Page, Shadow Empire, click 'Files'.
There you will find a 1.03 file you can download.
