Truck upgrade worth it?

Is the truck upgrade worth it? I see it would give me a more powerful engine, but eat more fuel. Does that mean the trucks will have a longer range?

It also depends on the design rolls (e.g. structure) on your first truck model.

I hadn't thought about the design rolls, which seems a fair point.
I had been under the impression it was not worth upgrading truck models before improving the incremental fuel efficiency tech some first. (And I believe there's also a fuel mix one?)
Basically under the impression you can only lessen the fuel consumption, and maybe the movement speed - via beefing up the engine - now that you got me thinking about it some more?

you can only apply linear techs but that and switching to electric engines is just about the only reason to ever touch the basic motor transport
