Replacements on the field

I had neglected to make replacements from my troops and just noticed a battalion was lacking 100 riflemen.
As I usually do, I click on the SHQ's Replacement Troops order and produce those replacements.

I notice the battalion is standing on the road, there's LIS to spare, and decide to give a try at the unit's Replacement Troops this time, in the hope of being able this way to pull the freshly produced replacements from the SHQ.

Turns out I can't unless I'm missing something? And can only order to produce 100 more riflemen, is this correct?

It's a first occurrence for me since I usually pay more attention and make sure to produce replacements in advance for the SHQ to send automatically during the supply phase of the turn calculation.
