Mod: Vid screens

I started tweaking VID screens, because some character poses (characters) really irritated me:)
(wanted to add bit of atmosphere to them.) At first I started downloading artstation stuff, but than I found I kinda like the "xenonauts" art, even if is sometimes very amateur/creepy, but it goes with the game

Install:

Unpack and overwrite files in \Shadow Empire\graphics\shadow\complex1\
(make sure you backup original files!)

This is just quick tweaking of those in-game screens
Not great, not terrible

Also I wouldn't mind if leader faces were made in a style more akin to Paper Please's randomly generated portraits, but I don't know if that is as easily modifiable (my uninformed opinion being it probably isn't).

from what I saw with the leader faces is, they are randomly composed.
There are couple jpgs with eyes only, noses, mouths etc.. They are probably sliced and composed on random to achieve variability, also it brings "small" touch of weirdness )
I too would by all for just random portraits, basicaly you could use anything similar to mods in DW, aurora etc.
Now they are super neutral in this form, probably cant even memorize any[:)]

I was thinking the same, Nsf665, hence my comparison with Papers Please which uses the same principle only with 2D art, as far as I can tell.
My only minor gripe with the current leader portrait art is how close it hits to the uncanny valley.

(And, true, they can be at times be difficult to tell from one another, but they come at and annoy me so often that I eventually manage to remember whose face's is which. [:D])

You can ask a site moderator in general to give you privileges early they do that if they can tell you are not a threat to board.

This postprocessing is making quite a difference. I´ve just located the portrait face component files in graphics\shadow\portraits and with a similar methods they could also made to look less generic, although I wonder if additional groups can be added to improve diversity.
