What music are you playing in background if any?

Post by Frostwave »

I listen to just about every genre of music from classical to industrial. Right now I happened upon a classic 'space music' Album on youtube that fits this game perfectly.

Klaus Schulze - Mirage (1977)
1."Velvet Voyage"
28:16
2."Crystal Lake"
on original release
29:15

Sounds nice to my ears, I like it, thanks for sharing.

I've yet to get tired of the original soundtrack, but should I play some music in the background, it probably would be some Earth. I feel there's a certain wasteland quality to their music.

Earth - Hibernaculum (Same source.)

Soma FM has some great themed internet radio channels for background gaming soundtrack. I've been listening to Deep Space One, Space Station and sometimes DEFCON.

I also still the soundtrack of the game, but once I tire of it I'll have loads of Star Citizen music playlists that would fit rather well I think.

Haha was just going to post that I've now been listening to Somafm:s Deep Space One as I play o/\o! Space Station is also cool but more upbeat often. For something darker, Drone Zone.

I'd guess some Steve Roach or Brian Eno would also fit the game. The game music is actually very good but lasts only for so long.

The Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun (and Firestorm) soundtracks are what I immediately thought of, and they didn't disappoint. Tiberian Sun leaned into the "Sci-Fi post-apocalypse dystopia" angle the most out of any CnC game. It's a game about high tech troops with walkers and lasers fighting across a miserable, dying world filled with equally miserable mutants. Where every field is muddy and dead and there is always an unnatural, vaguely green storm overhead. So a perfect fit for Shadow Empire [:D]

The Half-Life: Opposing Force also felt surprisingly fitting. Sadly it's very short though.

For most of my games and relaxation in general I like Delerium and Mythos and Amethystium and things like that. New Age type music.

@Jdane You're welcome. That track from Earth fits this game as well. At first sounded like the beginning of a Pink Floyd experimental track then morphed into something I would expect to hear out of 28 Days Later.

@Goodwinw You're welcome. Love the soundtrack from Stellaris. Picked up federations a week back, time is drawing near when I must finish my current campaign and complete the decimation of the universe with my unfeeling Machine Horde.

@nadia911 Great track, on a side note just picked up Skyrim for PC so now I have the game on all of the systems I own; PS4 Pro/Xbox one X. Yet I still haven't finished the game on any one of them lol.

@Kamelpov Great track but I want to be saving that for bannerlords makes me want to organize a raid or repel one ;)

@Lovenought Been awhile since I've listened to those will have to track them down. Been flirting with the idea of picking up Remastered collection.

@jwarrenw13 Thanks, and I mean that sarcastically. Delerium reminded me instantly of a group that made it big in the 90's but now Im wracking my brain trying to remember...on tip of tongue..losing my mind…(minutes of hell passes) wait Enigma thank god I hate when that happens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvQcX5yfTD8

Thorik classic games and great soundtracks!

@Pavig Used to have that installed on my iPhone been using spotify mostly as of late but might be time to come back to Somafm and see what I've been missing.

@Sieppo Love me some Brian Eno. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWc89nO ... dex=5&t=0s

I had the Canto at Gabelmeister's Peak playing all day when I was doing turn 100-130 of my latest game (I decided to finish the tech tree for that one and it's taking a while), which is a lovely thing to put on loop while you do nothing but econ and internal development for 30 turns
