The Eddy Vegas Two Second Sound Mod

Post by eddyvegas »

Hello, I modded some sounds to shorten them up. Here are the sounds I changed:

foot.wav
motorbikes.wav
tank.wav
truck.wav

The goal was to get the sounds down to 2 seconds. In the case of the march sound, I simply cut 2 of the marches out. The engine sounds were slightly more complicated, but I tried to keep the rev up/rev down feeling.

I think you will find these sounds less annoying, especially when scouting 1 hex at a time.

Simple, but effective. Thank you. [:)]
I've been beta testing myself for decades.

I'm thinking of other simple stuff I could do.

Oh, I see there is a graphic mods section. It wasn't there before. You can move me over there if you want.

I think I heard sometime (and could confirm from experience) that Unit replies in strategy games should be short. 1-2 seconds tops. Especially on things like movement responses. Rarer sounds like "Starting combat" in Shadow Empires can be longer.
I can not remember the source, however.

I know that sometimes the routine sounds can get annoying if they are too long in length but I kind of like the longer time sound effects. It's part of the immersion for me.

There is something about the lingering sound effect of troops marching even after the unit visually has stop moving that brings a smile to my face.
Forgive me my old friend...but I must use all my experience, to get home.

True if I get those overlapping sounds when moving multiple units it is weirdly satisfying
