Rail transport - It doesn't make sense (or it is bug)

Post by Emx77 »

Rail station lvl. 2 with 3.000 logistical points (lps) is located in capital city together with SHQ S-1. When I direct all that rail capacity to Richerspoint via Avalon there is no problem. Everything is working as intended. From screenshot it is obvious that Avalon received and sent forward 3.000 lps.

However, if I direct same rail capacity to Richerspoint via Aurora there is suddenly steep drop in lps. Aurora is receiving 3.000 lps but forwarding only 300. Why? What is blocking rail capacity in Aurora and preventnig it to move forward in full potentail? I have more than enough action points and that shouldn't be an issue. Is this a bug?

Note: In each city there is fully operational Railhead I asset.

The problem may be that you only got a Railhead in Aurora, while it is also a end/start point for the line. Notice that you got the same thing with Richterspoint in case 1.

Maybe it helps if you have a T-crossing, with 1 each going to:
- Soruce
- Avalon
- Aurora

Of course I can not exlcude this is a bug either.

That's a neat round 90% traffic blocked. Are you sure you don't have a traffic sign on that lower track?

I have also Railhead in Avalon. Both railheads are in middle of intended route but still they act differently.

Yes, same thing exactly as in Aurora.

I have tried to do that. From intersection out of 3.000 lps, half is going to Avalon and move forward in the same capacity. Other half goes to Aurora and than again drops to 150.
Of course I can not exlcude this is a bug either.

I will report this in bug section.

Yes, I'm sure. When I remove all traffic signs from map this is what happens. You can see that rail logistical points are going smoothly through Avalon in N and SW direction, but for reason unknown they drop 90% in Aurora and Richterspoint.

I have tried to divert all rail capacity to Avalon and Lolarius Growth and further NW. In that case, whole 3.000 lps is passing without obstruction to the city (not shown on map) where the rail line ends with railhead.

Bottleneck overlay is not relevant in this case.

Right... thanks for reporting. We are getting in the nitty gritty.

What is happening is that a Railstation can send at 100% efficiency over all raillines between Source and [Hex with Station/Railhead], but the shortest connection is used. This does not include Richterspoint-Aurora track. Hence it gets the limited 10% efficiency on that track part.

Now it is not exactly bug, but I think I should make the shortest-connection algorithm take into account any 100% traffic signs :)

Thanks for reporting this

best,
Vic

Hum I would have expected any trains that are able to make the full trip between a station and a railhead regardless of the specific route they take to benefit from the railhead.

Then again I wouldn't be upset if the system worked completely the other way and required stations, railheads, or some kind of "platform" to make use of rail logistics at a hex at all...
