What is Guard Mode?

Post by Malevolence »

The player may cycle through their units using the 8 (Previous) and 9 (Next) keybinds. Using the 0 (zero) keybind the player can exempt a unit from this cycle.

Units in Guard Mode are skipped and not selected when using the two cycle unit select keybinds.

Per the image, a white "G" character is noted on the unit's counter when in Guard Mode.

Keybinds
0 - Toggle selected unit Guard Mode
Q - Clear Guard Mode from all units

Related to keybinds:
8 - Select Previous Unit
9 - Select Next Unit

See Anatomy of a Unit Counter for further details about unit counters.

Guard Mode is only mentioned in Manual section 3.3.1, Hotkeys and without a description.

I noticed if you toggle guard mode on an OHQ it will tag or untag all of the subordinate units as well.

Handy tips. I really haven't found it necessary to look through the manual section on the interface, but that means I've missed a few actually useful tidbits like this one.
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

Thanks for the help! That manual is a beast; I've only read sections, so I've missed that information. I've wanted each of those functions you mention.
