Empire Logo's

Post by koplinsol »

Hi folks,

What do you use to create/alter images to make a new empire logo? Tried saving a few images as .PNG's but they weren't showing up in the Empire Creation portion that contains the logo selection.

Appreciate any help or suggestions!

I, too, am trying to figure this part out.
What is confusing is that in the 'shadow' folder there is a 'regime_flags' & a 'regime_symbols' folder.
In the 'shadowBIG' & 'shadowSMALL' folders, there is a 'regime_flags' folder, but...not 'regime_symbols' folders.
All have the same tile images, except for sizes.

There appears to be room for, at least, 30 symbols in the game screen; but usually only 27 (for example) show up, though I have seen 28 when adding a new symbol.
The way I have been able to use a new symbol (so far), is by replacing #30 tile (backed up) with my new #30 tile in the 'shadow/regime_symbols' folder.
Adding a #31 did not work for me.
I know I am missing a lot here, but this method did work.
Hopefully some others (Vic) can assist. [:)]

The way I did it was setting up an Adobe Illustrator file with the artboards at the different sizes and with the image areas I needed. Then it was a matter of choosing which existing image I wanted to replace. And yes, you need to replace 4 images across the different sizes for each logo.

GraphicsAlt\shadow\regime_symbols\[name of png]
80x80px.
Full image area.

GraphicsAlt\shadowBIG\regime_flags\[name of png]
76x76px.
Image area: x22 y6 w50 h34

GraphicsAlt\shadow\regime_flags\[name of png]
38x38px.
Image area: x10 y3 w25 h17

GraphicsAlt\shadowSMALL\regime_flags\[name of png]
19x19px.
Image area: x5 y1 w13 h9

Hope that helps. :)

Edited to use the GraphicsAlt directory which will replace the equivalent images from the graphics directory.

So you can only replace existing images with custom ones? hopefully in the near future this will change to be able to add custom ones including the default ones.

You can now. :) Just put the images you want to have replaced in a directory off the game root called 'GraphicsAlt' and they will overwrite.
I'll edit my post above to show this.
So 'graphics\shadow\regime_symbols\[name of png]' for example would be 'GraphicsAlt\shadow\regime_symbols\[name of png].

Sorry i don't think i worded what I wrote properly. I meant i hope in future we can add custom ones and still keep the default ones intact. No doubt the community will come up with mod packs for this.

Thanks for the guide :)
