Quad MG's

Post by EatPancakes »

So I'm having trouble seeing the value of Quad MG's, and I hope someone can explain or correct me.

In looking on the "Model" page, I'm not seeing a significant difference in practice between Quad MG's and regular ones.

The "Combat" rating is significantly higher, at 329 vs. my latest MG design of 49. So that should indicate more effectiveness in combat. Presumably this derives largely from the difference in "fire power" value, which is 1458 vs. 400.

However, the actual attack values listed are almost identical with my equivalent MG. So there must be a bug somewhere -- either the shown attack values are wrong, or there's some weird disconnect between "fire power" and actual attack values.

I confess I can't see what firepower is doing in the design logs, but I haven't already has the answer.

Check the number of attacks. Mine have 4 attacks.

Many weapons - most notable artillery - got more attacks with weaker values if possible.
And aside from the chance of doing more damage, multiple attacks make enemy breakthroughs are whole lot less likely.

This thing is called suppressing fire and will most like pin down someone due to multiple roll of small number compared to one big number. The downside is if you get too much of it you get penalty for using too much firepower for few target like for artillery.
