Easy Install Question

Post by vslimm62@gmail.com »

Easy question I think...
Just re-installed the installer after many years absent.
Do I go with the beta update next right off the bat or do I install the pc may update first?
Thanks

I am not certain, but would install the May update first. If the beta update is just an executable, you should certainly do the May update first, as some database files were changed at some point, and completely new files for the 2d10 pdfs were added, and I don't think that those are in every beta update, just the changes to the executables.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

No.

The general community has been using what we call the "public beta" for years now. Let the updater install the latest public release, but after that, the latest bug fixes and improvements come in the Hot Patches. Just hold on to your previous MWIF.exe when installing a hot patch, in case something important to you gets broken via "collateral damage". Then you have a fall back.

There are true "beta tester" releases (usually at least 3 or 4 before a hot patch), but they are not distributed to the public forum.
