More Readable Font

Post by eddyvegas »

Well, I guess it is a graphics mod. I went rooting around in the fonts folder and found what I think is a much more legible font. So I'm releasing it as a mod.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/61yhli7eb ... t.zip/file

Note I've have found some minor alignment issues I can't do anything about. But the advantages vastly outweigh the drawbacks. Again, there is an uninstall folder if you don't like it.

The mod does not work under Linux apparently.

Glad to see you tackling this area as my only complaint (early on) was the readable text.
One thing I tried, with some success, was to make copies of the 'ARIALBD' font file &
rename them 'king' & 'small5'.

I experienced with other files, but did not get any results that satisfied me.
Keeping backups, of course, I replaced the originals with the new font files.

Even though I use large monitors, I found this helped my aging eyes even more.
There is a lot of reading required & any help in this area is a welcome addition to me.
The in-game scaling helps some, depending on the monitor...so that is a welcome addition from 'Vic'.
There is always 'Magnifier', but...even that can be a pain. [:)]

Yes, it took a lot of trial and error while all the time terrified I was gonna break something. OK I had a backup of the fonts folder but it was still touch and go.

There may be an even better font in there but I'm calling it good.

I like this font a lot - definitely increases readability.
Font manipulation can be a perilous endeavor, however.
Here's what I get in the raise formation screen, original vs. new font.
It appears new font has too much spacing between lines (is that controllable somehow?)

Without going back to the original, I couldn't quite figure out what was happening.
Thanks eddyvegas.

Yes I addressed that in the original post. No I can't do anything about it, and I did mention alignment issues. You get what you pay for. :)

I can't help, sorry.

Did reinstalling from the folder fix it?

I'm willing to give it a shot. I've had readability issues with the vanilla font.

OK, I'm noticing the same issues with having the text overlap incorrectly for some reports. I think I've traced the issue to something that can be adjusted in the properties of the .TTF file. I did some playing around and found a way to increase the legibility without creating a formatting issue elsewhere. However, I want to make sure that I'm not missing something obvious before posting it, so I'll put it through it's paces for a few days and see how it does.
