Japan wants to walk past the Chinese city Hengyan without taking the city. However, this is not possible to do. Not even by using <CTRL> move. Seems like a bug. I am taking a break to ponder on how to solve this. [:(]
Not a bug.
Control of a hex changes when:
An enemy land unit (except for partisans; see 13.1, and supply units; see 22.4.10) enters it (the major power entering with the most factors if more than one);
This is not optional. You walk through it, you take it.
Ah. But we do not want to walk through it. We want to walk past it. In a another hex. See picture. We want to walk like the black arrow, put the program forces us to walk like the red arrows. Railway movement is on so I suspect that is an major issue for this bug.

Save is posted in the bug report created by peskpesk.

Interesting. Yes, that is a bug. You can see what MWiF is doing; it costs the same number of movement points either way to move into that first mountain hex, and it is capturing more territory for you. However, you don't want that territory. I have no idea how to fix this without using debugging tools.

Using debugging tolls, you could take the city, roll a 9 for US entry for no chit having been moved, and then us the debugging tool to change the city back to Chinese control. The only thing that this will affect is that the city will no longer provide supply for the Chinese for the rest of the turn.

This gives me one more reason to not like the railway movement bonus optional rule.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

That gave me an idea and that's how one can get around it! I did by first turning off the railway movement bonus, making the move and then turning it back on. Took me less than 5-minutes and two edits (pre & post move) to the game file.

you could also have edited the unit's position to the mountain hex and then moved the remaining space vs fiddling with city rolls and control no?

Or just edit the file to move the unit where you wanted and change hex control of the path you wanted the unit to take. That's also about a five minute edit. [8D]

Thank you for all the suggestions on how to bypass this bug.

However, since they all include editing the save, we will continue as is and take the city in questions.

I am still in favour of doing as little editing of the save as possible.

Yamamoto provides HQ support to the assault on Kweilin.

Japan provides 4 points of ground support to the attack on Kweilin with one LND2, and one NAV2.

Germany fly one 3 strength LND3, and one 3 strength FTR3, as ground support to the attack on hex 55,31. If one of the bombers clears the attack will be 7:1 and automatic. Will France use their FTR2 to intercept the bombers? Germany has two 5-strength FTR2 available.

France intercepts the support with one FTR2. And Germany use one FTR2 for counter-interception.

The first attack is on Reims, and automatic. The result is not converted to retreat. Which of the three defenders will be shattered?

And, if it can be decided on now, what combat tables will be used for the two Japanese attacks?
