Indexed color sprite – Convert for better Linux compatibility

Post by jeeger »

It seems people have gotten SE to work well under Wine! However, there seems to be a single counter image that's in indexed color mode, which wine is having problems with (see the "Play on linux" thread). Would it be possible to convert the counter to sRGB to remove this problem? It's easy to do oneself, but even easier if it's already done☺.

The offending sprite is 'defaultcounterbig.png', either in the 'shadowmodgraphics' or 'systemgraphics' directory.

I've checked all graphics, and it's the only non-sRGB PNG I've found.

Thanks for making this awesome game!

Maybe ask that question in the Graphics Modding Subforum?

Maybe I did not make it clear, but this isn't a mod request, it's a suggestion to Vic to convert the indexed-color counter image into an sRGB image, so it works under Wine without manually converting the sprite.

I don't think the modding subforum is the correct place for that.

Usually people want the problem fixed, and only care marginally about the source.
This sounds like one of the few things we can mod.
Plus having the "proof of concept" that a working mod provides, makes it way more likely the change will happen.

I've linked the converted counter, no need to make a separate thread. The linked image should go to "<install directory>/graphics/shadwmodgraphics/defaultcounterbig.png".

(Unfortunately, I can't post links yet, so it's not a direct link.

The sprite file is at thenybble.de/defaultcounterbig.png.
