I am Fred's current opponent who picked up this game I think in April 42.
Viewers should be aware that the Brisbane Evening Star is nothing more than the mouthpiece for the imperialistic Allied coalition lead by the bombastic General MacArthur. Some truth but mostly lies, half truths and fake news to raise the hopes of it's readers.
Reading the Star about all the Imperial Japanese Navy warships sunk one would think the IJN is down to a few destroyers and sampans to fight off the Allies. Of all the ships that the Brisbane Evening Star reported as sunk maybe only 15% were really lost. Yes, ships have been damaged by enemy action but they mostly get to a repair port and are back in action or are about to be back in service.
Take the latest headline from the Star "USS North Carolina Avenged". Ha! Yes, HIJMS Hiei was hit by 3 torpedoes fired by an American submarine. Hiei was damaged but made Makassar the next day and then on to a repair port. (this pic is about 2 weeks ahead of the latest Star publication) In a couple of months it will be the Hiei extracting revenge.
And on another front, there are almost 100,000 Commonwealth troops with lots of artillery and lots of vehicles just SouthEast of Moulmein who are in big trouble.
