this and SC.

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

this and SC.

So I am sure this has been asked a million times, however....My friend and I only have time for one game, we currently love SC...Is Warplan better? Does oil and manpower actually play a role in the game or is it just fluff? Which game has more strategy involved?
The one theater is a big bummer in our view, but the game looks really good..

Thanks for all your inputs.

Vastly prefer WarPlan, even though I also vastly prefer global scenarios.

I think SC is better overall, but both have some good features.

SC is very high level. While it does have different types of land units, it is artificial. The unit level is more on the level of fronts or very large Armies. Saying one is air, another infantry, etc. is a stretch. Since WarPlan is at a more operational level game, having infantry, motorized, armored, etc makes more sense. But this allows SC to cover the whole war without having a thousand units to move.

Just buy it. It is on sale currently. You know you will eventually. The PBEM games are fantastic. Even I am playing in a couple now and really enjoying them. I have been developing this for 6 years. You would expect I am bored with my own game but I am not.

I agree. Most fun game I have played in a long time. And, one of the most unpredictable. I have yet to face an opponent who didn't do something different from all my previous opponents. Most games fall into a rut of this is the "winable" strategy, anything else will be flawed and lead to defeat. The only thing predictable in this game is the fall of Poland.

Agree - love it, and while it still has improvements, Alvaro's commitment to change (and also his resistance to knee jerk change), have already resulted in significant improvements on what was a fun system from the start.
