Reapir at Pearl

Post by jcyingling »

I started a new campaign game. Pearl's runway and airfield took the usual significant damage. It is now Feb 8, 1942 and the damage is still the same as the day (Dec 7, 1941) that it occurred. I am not sure if I am missing a step in the repair process? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing in the base settings you have repairs set to "off" EDIT: Nevermind, I was thinking of building forts, AF, etc. As long as you have engineers, or units with engineer capabilities, and supplies, the base should auto repair.

Engineers have to be in combat mode.

Your aviation engineers and shipping engineers need to be in combat mode too to do their jobs.

It might have been better to call it "tactical mode" rather than "combat mode" except that LCUs with AV in "reserve mode" are really in tactical mode too. Don't put your engineers in "reserve mode", I don't think they'll function that way. If I'm wrong, somebody pipe up.

Combat mode only as I understand it. They also need their supplies.

Yep. Combat is the only mode allowing engineers to repair damage. Neither Reserve, Rest, Move nor Strategic allow any repair. Even if it's a bit counter-intuitive for Reserve, as the difference with Combat is essentially a question of tactics.

Speaking of supply - none is used during repairs of base facilities, but you still have to have some present.
Construction/expansion of the AF/Port/Forts does use supply, more supply for each level built.
If you build the forts first, that slows the construction of AF and Port because as you expand the last two, the forts have to be extended to the new construction.
It is best to build one thing at a time - you don't get the benefit until the level is completed, and splitting your engineer points among different facilities delays completion of all.
No matter how bad a situation is, you can always make it worse. - Chris Hadfield : An Astronaut's Guide To Life On Earth
