Why are all random events negative? Can we have a few where they do something right?

Depending on how you answer some of those events, you can envisage them as positive? (e.g. I press-ganged some guys into the Military! Answer: Well Done That Man!)

But I can see you point :) But I'd hope that any "positive" events would have a corresponding "You did what?!?! Gave funds to starving orphans!>! Are you mad!!!" answer :D

These events get repetitive and boring. Could there be less of them as the game goes on? Or the ability to opt out?
