Engage target Auto NEWBIE

Post by tonyscrase »

I have been using the "engage target manual" But I was going try "Engage target Auto"
If I have a ship whose main guns have a 9 mile radius and a target that is 15 miles away. If I use the "engage target auto" will the ship automatically set course and speed to intercept the target and fire automatically and continually change speed and course to keep the enemy ship in range

THANK YOU

It depends!

If the unit is unassigned to a mission and on a manually plotted course, it will not move to the target - you will have to do that. Once in range it will engage the target according to the weapon release authorisation for the relevant weapon against the relevant target type.

If assigned to a strike or patrol mission then the behaviour will be different, depending on just how the mission is set up - there are lots of potential variables. If it is a ship on an ASuW strike mission and the 'ignore plotted course when attacking' box is checked, then the ship should proceed directly to the detected hostile unit and engage once in range. But the ROE have to be set to the right level.
