Wearing a face mask decreases your risk of being infected with coronavirus by 65%, scientists find

There are two main methods of coronavirus transmission, with the first being via droplets that are expelled into the air when a person coughs or sneezes
The second is from aerosol particles that humans spray into air when we speak
Masks prevent both of these particles, the first which is visible and the second which isn't, from getting into the nose and mouth
Wearing a face mask decreases the risk of getting the virus by 65% and social distancing lowers the risk by 90%

You are welcome.

I also prefer the scientists over the politicians/lawyers but when other people bring them up and insult them . . .

Studies Report Rapid Loss of COVID-19 Antibodies
The results, while preliminary, suggest that survivors of SARS-CoV-2 infection may be susceptible to reinfection within weeks or months.

Politicians and their lawyers can be insulted? [:D][:D] <oh-my-gosh! I was totally giggling over that one>

But I reported earlier that the memory B cells may rapidly cause the antibodies to be produced. No need for the antibodies if there is no infection.

This is something that everyone should have access to reading. It's just so sad that the message has been lost in other agendas in the States and in many other places too.

I see more make here all of the time, but on a recent trip on the train, it still wasn't 100%.

But I reported earlier that the memory B cells may rapidly cause the antibodies to be produced. No need for the antibodies if there is no infection.

There have also been studies that some of the cases that seem to be second infection may be actually that the virus has never left the infected person, but was hidden in a reservoir in an organ somewhere. This is a behaviour that is used by at least one other virus, the herpes simplex virus.

Because this is not a fast evolving coronavirus, and it's thought a vaccine would protect for up to a year, I suspect that the body is using multiple methods for protection, but that for at least a year, the person would have immunity until a stain evolved enough to be different. This is an opinion, but based on some reading around the subject earlier that I'd have to go and find links for again.

As Texas morgues fill up, refrigerator trucks are on the way in several counties

https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/healt ... 7f0d44dcb4

Texas does not publicly report probable coronavirus deaths, which means patients who have died without testing positive for COVID-19 could go uncounted. More Houston residents are also dying at home before they can make it to a hospital. That means the death toll is likely higher than the state’s official count.

Funny how often COVID-19 gets steered into a political argument. As if people here have an agenda whether they want to admit to it or not. And who gets left out, all the ordinary working Americans who have to deal with this crisis on a first hand basis.
I think this is rooted in the psychological "need" to be proven correct in one's beliefs (because security comes from being able to project what will happen next). When our beliefs start to dismiss objective data, we create a "faith", and that is very hard to abandon. Doing so would mean admitting we were wrong about a long list of things that we constructed/incorporated as part of the faith.

My own faith seems to be that skeptics, who demand objective evidence about new info, are more flexible in creating/abandoning various models of what is happening. I freely admit to being wrong about a great many things during my lifetime and I am the better for changing my mind. But like all of us, I am a (piece of?) work in progress!

Putting hamsters on an a plane could prove whether the coronavirus can be spread through airborne transmission, infectious disease expert says

[:D] A Hollywood movie can't be far behind! Perhaps they will have to bring in some snakes to save the plane from the wire-chewing hamsters! [X(]

When an individual attacks the messenger instead of the message, I was taught that they don't like the message but are unable to refute it. Instead, they made ad hominem attacks. Some of these people also tend not to answer questions. Some of them also want proof of everything that you post with links provided to them, but when the links are posted they never respond.
