Limits on ASW upgrading

In my most recent game, playing the Entente, I found that once I had achieved ASW tech level 3 for the British, the only naval units that could be upgraded to that level were destroyers and seaplane carrier. In contrast, I could upgrade all surface ship to level 2. I could not find any reference in the manual to this restriction. Is this intentional (I assume so) and if so, why? Are there any other comparable restrictions (perhaps on air units) on which units can be upgraded between different tech levels?

Hi Michael

This is correct as not every unit type can have the same number of upgrades. Essentially it is to prevent any unit type becoming overpowered or capable of fulfilling a role that it wasn't really up to.

Thanks, Bill. Are there other examples of limits based on unit-type for upgrades to other kinds of tech e.g. for long-range aircraft or ground-attack weapons?

Anti-Aircraft generally has different upgrade limits for units and resources.
