Industry Damage

Post by paradigmblue »

In Evoken's and my game versus AndyMac, there have been a few cases of him capturing bases with absolutely all industry wiped out. I can understand some (or even most) industry being damaged, but having every single one being completely wiped out seems strange.

Can you help me understand what causes damage to industry when a base is taken? I need to know if there is something I might have inadvertently done in the scenario that would have caused this result.

They have not been wiped out- they can be repaired with enough supply ...!
Per the other thread on this by AndyMac, the presence of lots of allied engineers and a bad die roll that went against the Japanese are what gave the result. To not have it happen, you would have to deliberately remove the engineers from the hex.

It seems to me that when Japan sends a very strong force to capture Singapore early, there are still lots of engineers among the Allied troops. If Japan sends a weaker force and puts Singers under siege for a month or two, many of the engineers get wiped out and the industry damage is much less.

Does having IJN combat engineers help to limit the damage. It seemed that way in one of my games when i took Singapore, Palembang and Soerbaja completely undamaged with lot of combat engineers but Batavia had lots of damage when i had no engineers present. all deliberate attacks - never a shock in an important base for me

WAD.

It is more likely because of the beefed up mods.

I lost 100% at Miri and Singers in Andy's own Ironman Tier 3. I am just chuckling at the irony here.[:D]

Yes, there are definitely more engineering squads on Malaya in Focus Pacific than in stock, and all of the engi units made it to Singers, so that makes sense.
