Defense of Strategic Bombing as Germany

Post by cobychr »

Hello, i started a new "grand campaign" 43-45 as axis. Should i create Air Superiority directives over my cities to protect them?, or just locate FB-F and NF in the path of the bombers?

Thanks in advance!

Ah, the eternal question.

For NF: they only work on auto-intercept, so no AS needed.

For day fighters: A bit of a balance. Generally the advantage of an AS is that it allows you to both concentrate lots of fighters in one spot and prevent them from intercepting where you don't want a fight - such as areas the allies have shown they can successfully sweep with offensive ASs. The down side is that you can miss and a raid can sail right by as you were patrolling two hexes too far off; auto intercept will sortie if anything is in range to do it, meaning you'll connect a lot, but maybe in less numbers and with less precise control.

Generally, I think that auto works for intercepting small raids in safe areas, where AS is for fighting big raids in contested areas.
