Question regarding German Air HQs

Post by Torben23 »

Hi!

I have a simple question: Are the German corps (XXX) level air HQs useful? Or can you organise your aircraft directly attached to the army level (XXXX) Luftflotte HQs? What are the corps air HQs good for? Historical style only? Thank you!

They allow another layer of admin and leader and checks and depending on the corps may have better commanders. From a player side, they give you extra ADs to work with and help you easily differentiate between mission sets as well as allocate forces. For example, if you want to focus an tight air defense AD only in one region, while leaving most of Germany on auto-intercept, you might base only the Jagd locally and use them all in one AS AD without worrying that you’re pulling in fighters from somewhere else. Or if you want to be able to rapidly set the mission for all A/C in an area - like setting all of frontline Italy to REST until you want to fight.

Thank you for your help! Very instructive. Is there a limit of airgroups to be attached to corps / army level air HQs?

Torben,

No limit that I've ever seen. On the Allied side in the 1943-45 AAHQ campaign, I currently have 45 air groups assigned to No. 83 Group RAF.
