Disbanding militia units??

Post by Fab53 »

Enjoying the game immensely. Logistics can be hard to understand but getting there. Can militia units be disbanded? I annexed two minor countries and acquired a large number of militia units which completely disrupted my logistics. There doesn't seem to be any way to disband them.

Can militia units be disbanded?

No. Sorry.

You can combine them with the Transfer/BG command, if they are in the same hex. Militia units have some secret TO&E for each unit, however. Expect some restrictions.

There's a roundabout way: bring them to where the SHQ is, then use the transfer sub-units function to transfer the contents of the militia unit into the SHQ.
I use it to get rid of depleted militia battalions after a point, as the sub-units are used by the SHQ to reinforce the regiments I keep for border patrols or garrison duty.

To avoid the strain on logistics, you can just park the militia units either at SHQ or in a city with a strong logistics link, for example by rail.

Ultimately, you can send them to starve in the wilderness, but that's rather cold. Please don't tell ramnblam about it or I'll never hear the end of it. [;)]

Thanks for those suggestions. Transferring militia into SHQ then scrapping them returns the manpower back to the city population. I now only have to upgrade my logistics to be able to get the militia units back to SHQ by strategic transfer - fun and games!

Not a secret TOE, but highly variable.
You can see it under Unit Admin.

You people are monsters.

Just put surplus militia units into cities as garrison and put them on guard mode.

And my new beta game is meritocracy, heart and government thank you very much.
