Factories for allied aircraft

Post by Cavalry Corp »

Help please, this matter is confusing me a lot.

I am new to the editor and allied issues as not played them really. But in my game of RA going on now I get almost no Australian planes - when I looked in the edititor I see they are set very low or no production but is the absence of factories also causing this... I am sure John 111 would have thought of this and I will put a post to him.How do allied nations aircraft get produced if there are no factories for them like say Australian and Dutch esp?

Do allied USA factories upgrade themselves when the new plane become available, I think they do? If you are adding a new plane does it need to have its own factory?

What is the intereaction in the editor between say changing a build volume and date and the USA factories - If say B24D is building 20 on the map ( size of fty) but the production in the editor is set at a higher amount? what happens?

Help appreciated.

It's always been my understanding that the majority of Allied aircraft are considered to be built in off-map factories in the Eastern US or in the UK. That production is abstracted, you don't see the actual factories. The planes you get as the Allied player are what was made available historically for use in the Pacific Theater with the rest going to fight the war in Europe. Dutch, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand planes of US or UK manufacture are mostly what are sold or given to those respective nations from the available pools.

There are some US and Australian aircraft on map factories, but only in the geographical area represented by the map.

When you look at the intelligence reports ("i" box) and then go to the "aircraft replacement" screen, you will see numbers for production and replacements. The production is for on map factories, the others are off map factories or gifts.

If Australian and Dutch plane replacements seem anemic, it's because they generally were historically. The aircraft establishment of the supplying powers got the first priority in planes.

As the Allies you get your planes from two sources. The big one is the replacement rate from off map. As the Allied player you can't switch factories from producing one type of plane for another, although they do upgrade plane types.

What the Allies can do is stop the factory from upgrading to a newer type.
