You can turn them in ONE day early and still get the points. However, I do not know if the allowable air craft will go into the pools or not.

That is my memory of it too. Obvert always liked turning them in early....but I guess it depends maybe more on location and intended use.

I am going to starve for PP. My proclivity is to get the PP asap, as Anachro alludes to.

Before expending the PPs on changing leaders, you should take into account the likelihood of the LCU being destroyed or the ship/TF being sunk.

PS: Just doing my part in getting this ghost AAR to break the record.

If you want to break the record, just have Canoerebel post a picture and the description of a tree then you just might get 6 pages out of that.

One of the beauties of sending LCUs to Cape Town off map is they don't have to bought out until you decide to move them from there.

Allied at start Command HQs.

Years ago, In an Ironman game I spent the points to Change out ABDA and put Wavell in charge there I think...and Cassels in Malaya. You can get some really impressive combat rolls...if time is given to the Malaya defenders (i.e. no Mersing).

There are a lot of potential prep bases for China...but I put the prep I feel confident about now. I obviously need to get some ground HQs to India to take advantage of all the command HQs there.

I have yet to look at Oz, and Noumea is too far distant for New Zealand.

Lots to think about and ponder here....

I recall Bullwinkle or NYgiants made it a priority for getting some of it and down to Oz as I recall. Also, it upgrades to a very nice SCR radar set.

The Allies seem to start with very few naval squads overall...and this one is at 200% TOE initially.

Image

It's a good unit, but an alert Japanese player might sink alot of it at sea.

A better choice is the Dutch Naval HQ in Batavia; it's unrestricted, and can be safely moved. Perth seems like a good destination......

Thanks, I will check it out...haven't looked too much at the Dutch other than some funny ships, AA and their armored units.

The Dutch naval command is at Soerabaja and is restricted in this game. No HQ reinforcements for the Dutch either that I quickly checked for.

Nice try.

I wonder if I can sneak elements of Cavite into Pakhoi. The naval support squads would be wasted, but the AA and radar would come in handy at say Tuyun. That would make for a good story.

From memory, the Aussies end up with an excess of good quality LGENs, but I think they take a while to return from the Middle East and take a few weeks of leave.
Currently playing my first PBEM, no house rules Scenario 1 as IJ.

Sorry for the goose chase, that HQ is unrestricted in DDB-C scenarios....seems like alot of variance in the Dutch accross scenarios. Some have the Dutch totally locked down so you can't buy anything out if you wanted to.

Just checked, there is an HQc I can buy out for around 60PP, all the current leaders are rear area poor land, but good admin....I wonder how long it would take me to get them to India?

I would look awfully stupid if the Japanese ignored India and invaded Oz, though. [;)]

Allies are really starved for Free or Buyable HQc at game start.

Definitely going to attempt to get the III Indian HQ out of Malaya....by hook or by crook.

I have only found two squadrons I can remove for PP a few days into the war...but I now know I will be turning them in for pp asap and will be scanning the withdraw list frequently.

Brodie Haig will likely be removed from Southern Command and given responsibilities for ABDA (100 PP for total move). IRL he retired in 1942....but he is the best Wavell has to chose from, other than himself of course. And Churchill wants to succor the Chinese as the number one priority...so ABDA will get 2nd best.

Cassels may go to either Malaya or Burma....unsure there. Damn expensive if it is Malaya.

I guess I could go into tracker and look for future arrivals...don't really want to do that as a matter of personal taste.

I wonder if leaders are subject to the extremely variable arrival date? Anyone know?

One PBY aircraft to fly out a supply clerk, a personnel clerk, a cook, a corporal to supervise, and an Ensign to give the orders and the unit can be rebuilt.

For the III Indian Corps, switch the Ensign to a lieutenant.

All that you have to do is move just a part to another base, wait for the parent unit to be destroyed, then buy out the fragment which becomes the parent unit. Then remove said unit to a place of safety to get rebuilt.

Those little, buyable Filipino units can be done the same way. Then they can help police the Indian subcontinent.

Also, consider flying out part of the Guam and Wake Island units. Yes you can buy them back. But it takes time for them to come in and then get rebuilt. Just start the building and save the PPs. The same for all of the possible units of III Indian Corps. Granted, if you can save the complete unit then that would be better.

I kind of know all those tactics. For the most part I couldn't even bring myself to use them against the AI, let alone against a player.[:)]

Leaving at least one AS and some naval support at Cavite can keep it open for a little while to reload and refuel subs. It's right on Japan's shipping lanes, so the S-Boats don't waste as much fuel hauling themselves to patrol areas. Plus, it drains fuel that the Japanese could capture.

The well-known leaders all have firm arrival dates. The AI-generated leaders have an arrival date like 9999 which I take to mean they are randomly selected by the AI and given an arrival date when turn 1 runs. In stock, there are beaucoup leaders who have high primary skill but aggressions very low, or vice-versa. Very annoying ...

You have to wait a long time before anything remotely interesting appears with respect to British planes.

The DC3 is of course interesting, but a pitiful build rate. One can only hope it appears from other sources too.

It will be a struggle to enjoy using these guys...but we shall preserve and hope to find useful occupation for them.
