Hardbound rules...what do I need to change?????

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Hardbound rules...what do I need to change?????

Post by incbob »

So way back in the day when, Matrix just started to come out with MWiF, they offered the rules in a 3 volume hardbound book set.

How out of date are these? (Copyright date of 2013).
What would I need to update these volumes with errata and changes?

The RAW (written) have been stable and updated at Final Edition since before that time. There has been updates since for the Collector Edition that are not implemented in MWIF.

The RAC (coded) are the specifications for the implementation of the written rules into code. Those are also stable and though they could be changed, they are an interpretation of the written rules, they do not need to be changed.

So, everything, in this regard, is fine. At this time, there are no plans to change anything to re-implement the Collector's Edition.

Personally, I do not think that will happen any time soon. Priorities are to complete correcting the application to match the FE RAC/RAW, implement remaining optional rules, remaining one-map scenarios, and Artificial Intelligence for a couple scenarios - not likely for the Global War, but who knows for certain?

That is what I could figure out, but wanted to make sure.
I would rather ask a stupid question, then not know.

Changes to the rules as coded from what is in the printed books are very few:

- When I wrote the Rules as Coded manual, I forgot to explicitly define Tertiary supply, but it is fairly obvious from context.
- I have enabled players to use an undocumented 'debug' feature, F11, which lists all possible movement destinations for currently selected naval units.
- There were a few typos (as I recall).
- The displays for some of the forms have been modified slightly, but without adding any new capabilities (e.g., able to resize some forms to make the viewing area larger; the Pools form shows additional information about Destroyed units).
- It is now possible to change the source of a traded build point. (Click on the left-most column of the factory currently providing the build point.)

Given that the 3 printed manuals total over 700 pages, the omissions and corrections are negligible (in my biased opinion).

EDIT: Made corrections noted by Neilster and Courtenay.[&o][&o]

Do you mean "undocumented"?
