Thanks Michael.
When we had the big ones (75kg or 165lb each for you perhaps) in the park near us, I often got asked what they ate. My reply was always 'orphans, because I got fed up with parents complaining'. These 2 are only 45kg and 24kg so they don't eat that much compared with when we had 4.

In the south sveint flees. D'town and Krivoy Rog are liberated without loss

Image

16 PPs liberated also means 5 lost by the nazis and economy multipliers will add to that differential. Every little helps.

The cost of war

Image

The 44 spanish losses are not shown, and I used my inf to attack wherever possible. I only have a handful of units with experience of 50+ so losses will still result in higher experience levels.

The only bad moment was finding out that my brand new mech xxx was a '39 breakthrough so it had to go straight into the bin whilst I bought a proper one. Russian economy switches to prioritising replacements.

The Darling Buds of May 5

Sveint destroyed and army and a mech xxx in Russia tx to inadequate retreat paths. The smell of revenge is in the air

However, I shall start the feast with an aperitif: the allies in N. Africa advance either to pin all those Germans in place, or to fix him there.

Russia is the main course.

Image

We take the important swamp hex (now with the 12-1 inf xxx in it) in 1 attack even though it was only at 2:1. It was the pivot for the defense and is now the pivot of my northern advance. Either the Spaniards are getting a bit fed up with helping sveint, or my infiltrator xxx played a blinder. The spanish inf xxx battered last turn now shatters.

I could have sworn that I had taken a pic. of the attacks vs AGC, but I'm a silly person and did not. Apologies but sveint might post a photo.

Initial bombing attacks cleared out any axis fighters. In fact I think that only 1 ftr unit flew. 2 para drops near Minsk sealed off the German's retreat routes. 2 can play at paraspam

As a result 3 panzer xxx were shattered, including 7th PzK which had participated in sveint's c/attack. Revenge s sweet! The others were 6th and 9th Pz xxx. However, nothing was seen in my turn of 1st, 8th or 10th Pz xxxs which had been involved in the c/attacks, so some retaliation may occur. 1 of my paras is in Minsk without a retreat path, so not expected to live. The other is exposed but the escape path should be safe.

Sveint retreats a bit more in the south, and I close up. No fighting.

Nice use of paratroopers, wish you had taken a screenshot.

Western Europe is the pudding.
For non-pedantic Englishmen, the word 'dessert' should only be used for cold food. The same for 'sweet' though as far as I am concerned 'sweet' should never be used in the context of a meal. The word 'pudding should only be used for a hot 3rd course. As Western Europe has got hot, it's a pudding.

I don't think sveint was expecting me to land where I did [:D]

Image

France look very well defended and the trouble with the Iberian peninsula is the lack of air cover. The overwhelming need to the invaders is to grab port capacity. Amsterdam has a capacity of 9, as do both Rotterdam and Antwerp which are extremely close. Overwhelming air power and paraspam were the key ingredients. sveint only had 1 fighter unit in range, and that was savaged by long-ranged mustangs.

Saving some of my bombers was a bit of an error, and I had to use my UK paras as well to capture the port from its Yugoslav defenders. I did have somewhere more amusing to send it, but never-mind. The survivors of the garrison xxx are now on the way to POW camps in Canada. The unused bombers reduced the CV of the xxx in Rotterdam from 9 to 6 which will help a lot next turn. Difficult decision for sveint. Leave a weak unit there which mean I get Rotterdam next turn.Bringing in a fresh unit will mean that it won't have any entrenchments. He will also have to displace the US paras before he could rail anything better than another 9 point xxx in.

I have lots of ground forces in UK ports ready to cross over the pond, and huge numbers of LCs to take advantage if sveint weakens his defences elsewhere along the channel.

I think sveint has a lot of difficult choices in his turn, even if he does get lucky with the weather.

Nice Invasion of the Netherlands. That should completely disjoint his defense in both the west and east. The trick will be to reinforce those forward divisions and expand the bridgheads across both the Rhine and around Amsterdam.

Thank you. I try.............

Forces. I don't know if this is start of turn or if the numbers change during.I suspect the former because they don't show any UK/US air losses. This would mean Germany has only about 1300 left

Russia

Not so exciting as last turn. The Nazis don't make any attacks so the paras live to jump another day soon. Another spanish inf xxx shattered in the north as soviet armies take a lot of ground. A german inf xx shattered because it had no retreat path, which is why a 9-0 mech xxx is sticking out. It should retreat safely if attacked.

Image

I'm not sure how much farther sveint can run this early. I'm only 2 hexes from Konigsberg.

Western Europe.

Again not very exciting. Rotterdam is taken with a UK para landing. They could have just walked but this was more cool and minimised reduction of readiness, and looks secure. 2 US xxx (1 tk, 1 mech), land. Hopefully I can create more room next turn to increase the rate of build-up.

Image

Lots of truck used in Western Europe and Russia to sustain the effectiveness of the offensives. Russian interceptors reach '45 tech. Allied economy is 1400 PPs/turn of which about 1200 is put aside for upgrades/refits and about 250 trucks built. Any unused PPs go back to stockpile so I can get more trucks. Any unused PPs go back to stockpile so I can buy more trucks.

2 June N.Africa

We normally charge towards the sound of guns, but in the absence of that, we charge towards the sound of enemies running away.
The static xxx is not going to survive for long as sveint continues his cowardly (albeit sensible) policy of abandoning his friends when things get tough [:-].

My public failure to move my fleet to blockade Tripoli is a little embarrassing, even tho' there wasn't much point.

Russia

Not so good in terms of losses in sveint's turn. However the northern para enabled me to shatter another spanish xxx then a finnish one. Worth the sacrifice a couple of hex rows gained. The para further down took out 2 bomber bases and parked itself Gomel (I think) but it has a 1.9 defence modifier for urban in swamp so it might survive. Anyway, as Cyndi Lauper sang 'girls just have to have fun' and SF is a girl - though Warplan is not her idea of fun. AGC had retreated a couple of hexes so a turn of catch up, truck resupply and prepping for next turn was all I did, including moving up fresh armoured units and relocating bombers which were now out of range .

Image

The top para landed in the hex at the top of the inverted V to trap the Spaniards on the hill where the 9-0 inf xxxx is now, then moved SE to trap the Finns who were where the 13-1 mech xxx is now. The replacement for my para xxx is already in the build queue. I'll teach sveint the true meaning of paraspam
