Gateway errors when trying to access threads

Post by Gozzon »

In most cases when I try to visit a thread while logged in I get 502 Bad Gateway error. In some rare cases I'm able to open the thread and when opening threads while not logged in I can always access the threads

I was able to get it working with clearing the cookies for the site but now once again the issue popped up again. Will fix it the same way but just wondering if there's anything going to be done to it or nothing until new forums?

Yes, came here to make the same post :)
On the SE subforum, I can view some posts, but others give 502 bad gateway, both in firefox and in Chrome...

Something that might help...

If i open a post in a new private window it works just fine...
So perhaps something to do with being logged in (in the private window i'm logged in as guest).

Getting the same issue.

Log in as a guest? No problem at viewing threads.
Log in with my account trying to view those same threads? 502 Bad Gateway error.

I've found that this is only when all of the following are true
1) I am looged in
2) I click on somethng that is relatively new. After a while of inactivity, threads become safe to click on. (Note that clearing the "new" flag by marking forum as read does not help.)
3) I am on my Chrome browser (MS Edge logged in works fine, but that may be because I don't use it for anything other than testing problem sites)

both ctrl-f5 (force reload) and shift-f5 (ignore cache reload) does not help

I'm reluctant to clear my cache totally, are there specific sites and/or scripts that I should manually clear? theoretically either ctrl reload or shift reload should work.

Edit 1: incognito mode on Chrome works, logging in after incognito mode works as well. Off to try and find a single-site cache clear for Chrome.

Edit 2: One thing to note was that clicking on logout generated the same bad gateway error. So here's the fix for chrome:
Go to Settings (it's in the menu that you get from the 3 vertical dots on the upper right)
select Privacy and Security on the left hand navigation aid
select cookies and other site data
click on "see all cookies and site data"
in the search bar, enter matrixgames
You should see two lines, one for matrixgames.com and one for www.matrixgames.com select the trashcan icon for both
You will now be logged out. Log back in and you should be good.

Your steps worked for me, sw30, thanks!

It was getting bad enough that the "logout" button on the forums was giving me a 502.
