RE: splashell (A) vs. gervabit
First day battle occurred at 7 hexes, while 5 was envisioned, but in terms of plane losses it was favorable. Second day occurred at 7 or 8 hexes, but this time under the CAP umbrella of Noumea. Also Vals can really only use 60kg bombs at 7 hexes leaving Kates as the only real threat. Every available fighter squad was scraped together on the carriers and even flew one bomber squad off to fit more fighters. A heavy CAP setting was used resulting in fewer escorts. I think it was also a RL historical trend as well that the fighter proportion on total CV aircraft grew larger over time.
Apparently if the case were, that LRCAP would've been flown from Noumea instead of sitting under the local CAP, it might've been slightly different due to the manual guidance of LRCAP being 20% effective over CVTFs.
I think it was a good opportunity which rarely presents itself with one sided air search information.

It still opens up possibilities for future operations such as:

Certainly and there are gosh, how many divisions released from the Philippines. I think as allies it is important in the case of a heavy Japanese focus anywhere, to cross over the mental obstacle and be prepared to cede some ground, consolidate methodically and decide where to defend. This build up also by itself determines (to a point), where future offensives will take place.
I find the most intimidating part so far as Allies the abysmal Commonwealth replacement pools for pretty much everything. There seems very little buffer to cover any kind of troop losses.
Considering the Commonwealth nations carried the brunt of the war for several years, it seems quite historical as the UK industrial capacity and manpower was stretched to its absolute limit covering almost every part of the globe and every field of warfare at the same time against enemies, who had been already gearing up for the war they intended to wage for several years. The same thing with USA in the beginning, which was completely unprepared for war but in a few years ended up being the industrial backbone of the allied cause and basically supplied all other allied countries, while very slowly but steadily allocating more against Japan. Russia, of course took the brunt of it all and caused irrecoverable losses to the German manpower and army.

RE: splashell (A) vs. gervabit
As we approach March, Japanese are heavily investing in taking the remainder of Java and capture DEI islands and islets. There is also a heavy push in Burma in the vicinity of Toungoo, and Prome was captured. In Northern China, the Japanese advance near Yenan seems to have been halted after a bloodily repulsed shock attack across the river and stalemated for now. Loyang has fallen, but Nanyang and Tsiaotso and approaches to Sian look to be holding firmly so far. Wenchow has continued to hold so far till early March (but the time is running out here), and Japanese forces are massing to the gates of Changsha. In Southern China a stalemate seems to continue for now. At least a major part of the Japanese carrier fleet is paying a visit to the deep Pacific, in the Line Islands.

RE: splashell (A) vs. gervabit
Why terminate the game? It looked like both sides were learning a lot from their mistakes and both getting and giving punches?

RE: splashell (A) vs. gervabit
Thanks for the concern, and thanks for the game. There is nothing wrong with the game.
I currently and for the foreseeable future find making turns too time consuming, and hence unfair to continue on a very random turn exchange rate. If someone reads and is interested picking up the game I'll be happy to provide a PW. There might be some optimization possible on turn making time usage, but it tends to take 3-4h to make it properly anyway which is too much currently. The game did teach a lot of things while it lasted and allies were retreating in good order out of Burma, and so far in China.
