can Russia be killed

Post by boldairade »

Im in my first MP. Like most axis i imagine, my main focus was killing The Bear.

But, much like historical russia, even after some fairly massive encirlements, it seems the russians just pump out new troops and dig them in behind rivers, necessitating flanking maneuver or assault/fording.

What does it take to kill Russia? By kill them, i mean being able to relieve the Axis of the necessity of keeping the bulk of her forces in the East?

You need to take most of their production cities to get the Bear down. I took all of Russia in my last game. They moved their capital to Tehran. They had almost nothing left, other than a massive airforce. I find the best thing to do is use the rail lines to cut them down to size. Once you isolate parts of Russia, and they can no longer move their forces to the isolated areas you can withdraw those troops, and just deal with partisans.

My plan is 41 move to a line Rostov to Leningrad. 42 Take Moscow and Leningrad. Do not move past Rostov, you don't want to expand your front. 43 and on just keep pushing, again, don't move past Rostov, until you have eliminated part of the Soviets. Once you do that Rostov becomes a hinge and pivot into the oil rich areas of Russia.

I think so. No Russia, means the Germans have a massive force, and huge production. The Allies won't stand a chance.
