Why Is China Divided

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Why Is China Divided

Post by DFourthHorseman »

Hi. I have been wondering, for a while, why china is shown as nationalists and communists in WW2 in SPWAW. I know my history around this ok, I know they weren't united for awhile because the nationalist leaders did not want to cooperate with the communist in order to save china. But this ended when the nationalist leader was captured and forced into an alliance, this happened during the war. So shouldn't they be shown as a full nation after this alliance has been made instead of being completely separate throughout the war?

Thanks

Chang kai Chek wasn't captured during the war as far as I know, and if he was he was by local warlord not commies.
Did you notice also that there is separate OOB for Spanish republican and nationalist ? but they 2 were united in the blood before WWII start ( arguable it was before the start in fact ) ?.

Even after aggreing to a TRUCE, the 2 chinese tendance never really cooperate, they keep their influence on their own zone and IIRC I would say that meeting of the 2 armies could be really bloody. They NEVER formed an united country and as soon as the war end they go at the throat of each other.

So you have 2 oob so you can make campaign i chinese civil war or WWII, but nothing hibder you to use other side gear with the "Nation" button, but it seems somewhat werdeist than using Japanese gear. Also I ought to see a historical scenario with units from the 2 ideologies on the same side.

Might it be because the SPWAW timeline stretches from 1931 to 1949? In that case, there's time for both civil war in Spain and Communist takeover in China.
