Combat Odds - Varies With Unit Selection Order

Does it matter which order you select units to engage in battle? The Odds calculation can vary (sometimes wildly) depending on the order in which you add the same units to the battle. Why does this happen?

Max Attacked Modifier - Page 299 of Manual

If you have to many attackers, later units get a penalty. Always select your best units first for best odds

I see that but the Max Attack value tooltip doesn't seem to make much sense.

Actually, it seems the addition of Sentinels pulls the Concentric Attack modifier down to +40% from +80%, which doesn't make much sense as the number of vectors of attacks hasn't decreased.

It seems to want to have one unit attacking from each direction and as soon as you start to add more units to any one of those directions the bonus starts to disappear. Odd.

That's because the concentric attack bonus is halved if the attacking units don't all belong to the same OHQ.
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

Ah! Now that makes sense. (And found it in the manual: "The Concentric Bonus will be halved if Units from multiple HQs are involved.")

I've seen the same thing. You can select your units to attack, deselect some, then re-select the original ones and get different combat odds that you got the first time.

I just see it as a feature. Sequencing your units to get the best odds.
