[1.05] Snip & Sketch causes System Lockup

Post by HansLemurson »

Using the "Snip and Sketch" tool on Windows 10 to take an in-game screenshot does not work, and can even lock-up your system.

Pressing windows+shift+s works normally and brings up the Snip&Sketch tool.

When you highlight the rectangle to select the portion of the screen you want to capture, S&S does not recognize that the action has been completed, and the selection rectangle remains until you cancel the operation. I do not recall having this problem in version 1.4.

If you choose the "Freeform Snip" option however, not only does the image capture not complete, but you can no longer cancel the operation. The screen is now stuck on the "lasso select" interface, allowing you to draw squiggles and circles on the screen, but to no effect. This visual layer dominates all others in windows and is impossible to escape from. Ctrl+Alt+Del will bring up its own menu, but selecting Task Manager is impossible because it comes underneath this un-escapable layer. All other computer commands are ineffective.

I was able to escape only by restarting my computer.

Print Screen and the older "Snipping Tool" work perfectly fine. The problem is contained to the "Snip and Sketch" tool.

Works fine for me.

(Edit to add) I'm on the Microsoft fast ring, so I may have a different version of Win 10 than you do.

I can use Snip and Sketch if I alt+tab first.
