I didn't know anything about this ship class before playing this game. Now they're getting some love from the "The History Guy".

He should have mentioned that one of the Norwegian skippers on the three SCs which were used in the "Shetland Bus"-unit, Leif Larsen, went on to become the most decorated allied naval officer during WW2.

He did mention in the comments that he would have further videos on the subject, so I hope that's covered because it sounds interesting.

From the video, I learned that US sub chaser "SC" ships were made of wood, while the somewhat bigger "PC" sub chaser ships were made of steel.

The first German POWs were taken in May 42 when the 165 ft Coast Guard Cutter ICARUS sank the U-boat U-352 off of NC/SC. The ship was quite similar to the PC type of submarine chaser. Later that year a sister ship, CGC THETIS sank another U-boat (U-166 IIRC) in the Gulf of Mexico, this time with all hands.

I'm pretty sure the RN took some German U-boat crew prisoners long before May of 1942 ... [;)]
