Something is deleting my troops

I need help finding the cause of an issue I'm facing.

In two specific zones, my troops are disappearing. I will end the turn with a full battalion of troops and the next turn there will be some number of troops missing in that battalion. I've lost entire formations this way, including militia. The type of battalion, independent, militia, doesn't matter. Only OHQ units seem to be immune. It only appears to happen in two particular zones. My troops in other zones do not have this problem. If I move units out of these two zones, they no longer lose troops. That's how it appears anyway so far. It's been happening for dozens of turns.

I need to know what is going on and how to solve it. It is impossible to keep these two zone cities garrisoned at the moment due to this phenomena, let alone fight a war on this front. Replenishment troops also don't get delivered. It's entirely a zone of defection. I've looked at my reports and I can't find any information. I don't know what's up. The zone loyalty is ok.

Is the AI doing something? If so, how would I verify that it is? Am I doing something wrong? If so, how would I fix this?

Food not being supplied to troops? Is everyone in supply?

Food is not the issue. I've verified this to the best of my ability. Units will not disband from starvation in one turn if they have full supply anyway. I had one instance of 50 rovers that I moved from my SHQ to the adjacent zone of death and then at the start of the next turn there were 40 rovers. And 0/10 replenishments supplied. And the logistics layout looks good. There's only like 4 zones in question at the moment so I'm confident my supply is just fine.

I think it has to be something else.

Edit: This is just the example I mentioned above. This is happening to *everything* that enters either of these two zones. I can't debug it.

Edit2: It looks like I was wrong about OHQ being immune. In the same turn (the latest) where I tested the buggy, I also find that my infantry brigade OHQ is now totally gone. So 7 infantry were completely deleted and now I don't have that OHQ anymore. The 4 remaining subunits formerly under its command that were safely located in the adjacent non-death zone are just fine. Good times.

Just throwing probably obvious ideas. Is the save game compatible with 1.05v? Is there anything mentioned in the zone log report?

I haven't updated the game since original 1.05 release. I haven't checked the beta branch lately. Thanks for suggesting the zone log. I checked there too and nothing stands out. There's "crime activity" but that's pretty vague. Other than the militancy levels changing, there's nothing else related to my units that I can find. There is a crime syndicate active and the report on it does mention loss of troops. I'm not very familiar with the syndicate but I'm guessing there's your culprit.

I've had the crime syndicate go to war before but I've never seen such an egregious amount of damage. And it's been at war with me from almost the start of the game and this wasn't happening (at least not noticeably). Any idea how to stop it? Seems ridiculous... like, "is this really supposed to happen?" level ridiculous... Feels broken. Maybe I've neglected to do something simple to fix it.
