I didn't know about this. The C-130 is an amazing aircraft. The US produced some really great aircraft during that era, ones still in service today.

They did some touch and go's with a U-2 on a carrier as well. I wouldn't want to volunteer for that...
RE: Hell Hath Frozen Over (Scout1 (J) vs Lowpe (A)
I didn't know U-2 played on a US carrier I bet it was touch and go.

RE: Hell Hath Frozen Over (Scout1 (J) vs Lowpe (A)
Landing a C-130 was problematic to say the least
you would need a really good pilot, and all carrier operations needed to cease while "that beast" was on the deck
plus, ~4 trips in C-2 greyhounds can carry the same weight
so I am not surprised they canceled it

The C-130 landings were probably "proof of concept" for plans to use carriers to launch long range raids using the C-130. Basically, refueling the C-130 would be the most likely scenario because you don't want to tie up the carrier deck for more than an hour or so.ORIGINAL: Jorge_Stanbury

A major portion of the KB shows up north of Ternate and gets this strike in dooming the Danae. The Whipple had 89 system damage and 54 fire before taking the bomb hit. Poor play on my part...I actually forgot about them for one turn, then tried to save Whipple...oops.
A S boat hits a merchant unloading at Luzon...
Another portion of the KB (2 CVs shows up north of Rabaul) where the Allies have the upper hand on the ground for now.
Supplies look good at Sumatra, Malaya, China and Burma.
The 254th Armor is at Paoshan heading east, one Indian Mtn Gun unit is at Kweiyang, a 40mm Bofors is on the way to Kunming after being flown in.
9 Days for a Commonwealth Convoy to show up with a dozen Matildas, 24 Marmon Herringtons (for Palembang) and other assorted goodies.
The Lost Battalion has upgraded to 105mm artillery and is boarding trains for Perth. AA and fighters arriving in Australia, will probably now look at what to do with Port Moresby which has been getting steady supply from xakls.
Some SAGs have left Pearl Harbor for the Pacific, while Exeter has left the Bay of Bengal...American Carriers concentrating.

Four days have gone by, and Japan has lost over 30 planes to 2 for the Allies. Bagged 18 more Nells over Singers, where they did manage to sink an xakl, and a couple of motor launches...the xakl stopped one hex short of Singers and were devoid of air cover.
Other than that pretty quiet...
China is super quiet, like Japan has 0 plans there.
orning Air attack on TF, near Singapore at 50,84
Weather in hex: Overcast
Raid detected at 25 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 9 minutes
Japanese aircraft
G3M2 Nell x 13
Allied aircraft
Buffalo I x 25
Japanese aircraft losses
G3M2 Nell: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
No Allied losses
Allied Ships
HDML 1097
ML No. 432

At this stage of the war that's pretty sad.[:(]

Sweep, sweep, sweep
Allied pools just can't sustain it
I mean, you only have to play one GC to know this, even if you do terribly

China...nothing happening except some very minor rail road clearing, but still China has the lines cut. Inexplicable.
Flying in over 60 supplies per day now from Ledo, the 254th Armored, two Indian Mtn Guns, and one 40mm AA unit form up the Chinese Expeditionary Army so far.
Meanwhile Singapore and Palembang continue to harden...

1200+ AV at Palembang, forts 3 and building, supply over 130K with more on the way.
Singapore 1200 AV, forts 3 and building, supply over 150K. Buffaloes are strong.
China not threatened.
Poor Japan...

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may. In this case, see if there's a big Chinese corps you can buy out, march to India, and then ship to Sumatra! By this point in time, you could start looking at ways of forting up the other nearby bases to make them just as unpleasant to take.
Your opponent needs to bring up some Netties to interdict your transports and Zeroes to sweep away your Buffalos. You've had a month to train your pilots, move LCUs, build forts, prep for bases, build up reserve pools, and recover damaged devices, so moving in on the DEI is already going to be that much harder

Ok I get it, given the start, surrendering now simply saves time and effort but wow.
