Wierd. It seems to be working fine for me. I have the new windows update and the Bacon mod installed.

Are you sure you have the 2004 update? My windows has updated several times in the last month but I still don't have the 2004 update (thankfully).

If you DO have the 2004 update and it is working then there is hope of getting the mod working for everyone.

Roger the 2204 update does not download automatically.

If you go to your windows update screen you will see an option to download it..... but do it during a time where you dont need your pc.

If it is not in your windows update screen, then Microsoft has possibly identified your system as one that could have problems with the update..... at which stage they do not offer you the update.

I have the same problem, the game not start with Bacon Mode.
The game work without.

[s]I was working on a mod (only customized folder) and this mod not work anymore too (based on Bacon + RetreatEU + Dias).
Someone know which files in customization could be not compatible with the base game, please?[/s]

Edit in fact the mod work with an older version I will see if something else make it bug.

Same problem here with windows10 Pro ver 2004. Running mod ver 1.79.

I can launch the initial distant worlds dialog box from the desktop. Clicking on the play distant worlds button brings up the first Bacon mod popup window but after clicking ok the second Bacon mod window never appears.

Checking task manager, I see that the Distant worlds (32bit) program in running;. It slowly increases CPU usage, starting at ~8% CPU and ramps up to ~50% CPU. It is not accessing the disk at all. The loading screen for DWU never started. I killed the task after letting it run for about 10mins.

The vanilla version of the game without any mods boots up fine under windows10 Pro ver 2004.

I hope there is a fix for the Bacon mod. Without the mod, the game play has much less pizzazz...like cow bell, I need more pizzazz in my DWU!

Has anyone confirmed that it still doesn't work even if you start it from the exe running as an admin (right click "run as admin")

Just installed DWU through Steam. I use Beyond Extended Universe Alpha mod (extracted to Customization folder), and the Bacon mod (.exe replaced with the Bacon .exe). Windows 7 64-bit version. I get periodically (maybe after 15min of gameplay) a GxEmp error message. Googled that and apparently it is caused by running out of memory. I've applied a 4GB patch to the .exe but it still ever seems to use only about 1.3GB so not sure what's the problem. I play with 15x15 sectors / 2000 star Bacon galaxy.

I think the first line says it all. Access to the autosave is being denied. Try giving permission to the path or turn off autosave and see what happens.

Shilka: I may have misinterpreted your problem.

I agree with this assessment. 15 minutes is the default autosave interval ao that makes it highly likely. Its not a memory issue. Also, the Bacon exe has already had the "Large Address Aware" memory optimization applied to it.

Thanks, the first line said it all of course (duh). I reinstalled everything anyway and seems the problems went away.

I posted this before and deleted it but it's happened more than once now. Maybe a clue.

In Windows 10 2004 when I start up DWbacon.exe (as admin) the initial pop up appears (mod by roger bacon etc...). You click ok the pop up goes away, but no game.

One time I was messing around with it, the pop up was up, i got distracted, the pop up went away on its own. Normal I guess. I went to start it up again but the exe was gone. Desktop shortcut too. Weird. So I tried copying a new exe into the folder, but the folder was locked. I needed admin but I am. I tried to rename a file but no dice. I didn't check to see if it was the folder or the whole pc that was locked so idk.

A reboot fixed it. Tried it three times. It probably means nothing but you never know. (I am not smart with computers so that might be the problem).

Hello, thought I'd just drop in to note something odd with the settings in Baconsettings.txt

Now I had played a custom pirate game for about 10 hours when I just couldn't deal with the ship costs anymore, ranging around 20k with a similiar ridiculous upkeep cost for a 340 Size Frigate. I had no idea if this was intentional for Vanilla since this was my first Pirate playthrough. After checking out the manual, some youtube videos and around the forums, I came to the conclusion that something wasn't right with the shipMarkupFactorPirates=2.5 as shipMarkupFactor=5 seemed to be working as unmodded.

So long story short I changed the "." into a comma and now it works like it should. I feel like an idiot, is anyone else having this issue? This most likely breaks every setting, which I confirmed with pirateControlLevelToBuildShipsAtIndependentPlanets=0.9 as I always needed 100% control of an independant colony to build anything, at 0,9 the Message properly displays at 50% influence.

Is this issue limited to my DWU not reading the text file properly? Made for a very interesting game though. [;)]

Your Windows settings must be to use comma as decimal point, like some European computers do. The issue came up a year or mroe ago and I thought I put something in to fix it but I guess not. So it looks like you were paying tex times normal costs. I'm surprised you survived as long as you did. I'll put a comment on the first page so others don't run into the same issue.

Yeah I set my windows install to english on setup since I have issues like this in other departments as well, but I am in germany. So there must be some setting that carried over regardless of that.
Thanks, really enjoying your mod and it's been a joy so far except for that last bit. [:)]

Hi! I'm having a problem with the mod; Whenever i set a Constructor Ship to build a mine on a planet, it warps in the system, tries to exit its gravity well (even if its really close to said planet/moon), jumps in again and repeats the process until it runs out of fuel. I tried setting the warp accuracy to vanilla, but it didnt help(and yeah, it has all the mats and fuel required for the op).
Also, Explorer Ships, when set to "discover the whole sector", when they go refuel, their next waypoint is A1, top left corner.

Any ideas?

I've never seen that with constructors. Have you tried clearing the mission and giving it again? Does it still do the same behavior?

For explorers, we've seen this kind of behavior with "explore whole sector". It has to do with no specific target being associated with that command, unlike systems, or planets. Since there is no specific object, it defaults to 0,0 and heads off to that location. I suggest not using explore entire sector if you are going to give manual explore commands to your exploration ships.

This happens to brand new constructors too, no idea why. Also, they seem to move in a straight line back to the home system, even if it means going through the entire system, instead of using the shortest path to the edge of the gravity well

This was annoying.

I never used exploration ships like you, but when constructors were building a mine (not 100%) and you clicked the constructor a move to line would appear straight to 0,0 (top left) and the game would grind.

Reminds me of an old, old joke. "hey doc my arm hurts when I do this", "well stop doing that".

Version 1.80 released featuring Custom Bombers

Now you can create your own custom bombers and assign different designs to different carriers and bases. Design a heavy firepower one for one ship and a fast interceptor for a base.

ctrl-b opens the custom bomber screen.

!bomber= assigns the bomber to a selected ship, base, or fleet.

Sorry. For some reason I can't make the images big like usual for some reason.

Thanks RogerBacon !

But, unfortunatly, as this update doesn't address the windows update bug, I (and a lot of others people) can't launch it (I tried just now).
