[NO REPRO] Multi Monitor queation

Post by Tecmeister »

I recently upgraded my PC to three monitors, and since then, I've noticed the game crashes every second or third chance I get to play. Sometimes shortly after starting a session, and sometimes after I've played a couple of hours. It shouldn't matter, but is CMO multiple monitor ready? I usually open the main map across two screens, a full screen for the map and a little screen space on the right hand screen for the Unit/Group detail. There's a picture in the attachment showing the setup.

I'm running a Win 10 machine, 64 bit, Ryzen 5 1600 (3.2GHz) six core processor, 32GB RAM, a 1TB NvME M.2 drive, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics card that supports 3 monitors.

It is a large and busy scenario, most recent autosave attached, but a crash was rare before the upgrade.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I've been playing on 3 monitors for a long time and have not had any CTD issues on my end. Looking at your attached photo however, I can say that I have not tried to configure CMO the way you have it, mainly the way you drag the main map window partially into the right side monitor. I always keep separate windows on a single monitor (i.e. - the main map window stays maximized on my center monitor), and any unattached windows (such as the DB window when I have it open) I will drag onto the other 2 monitors as I see fit. I mainly do it like this to satisfy my OCD need to keep separate windows completely within the borders of a single monitor for organizational purposes.

I really can't speak intelligently enough for the technical side of your hardware configuration to know what works well/not so well with CMO or if video card RAM even makes a difference with CMO, but it could be your video RAM is being pushed to the limits to do what you are asking of it? That's the only thing I see in your specs that stands out to me.

RE: Multi Monitor question

Started a short session last night, but the game crashed again 10 minutes in. Observations;

I was doing a lot of zoom in tight, change to Unit View to check a target, change to Group View, zoom out to regional, move to a different target and repeat. Did this 8 or 10 times in quick succession before the game hung.

I did have time to snap a pic of system resources in task manager. CPU was 11%, RAM was at 22%, Disk at 0.1 MB, Network and GPU were all at 0%, and Power Usage for CMO was Very High. CMO was using 2,171.2MB in a 32GB machine

Map settings were Sentinal-2 sat map, BMNG Layer, Borders and Coastlines, and Day and Night lighting checked.I'll uncheck Sentinal-2 Sat Map this weekend and repeat the process above and report back.
