Problem of fluidity

Post by Hellway »

Hello, in order for the game to run smoothly and without problems (no black screen that interrupts the movement "the program doesn't respond"), I have to cut the sounds of the animations (not the background noise) and use the TAOWIII control panels. Is there another solution you know of? Thank you...

See my post in Raver's recent thread

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4884462

Also, hide the "minimap" and the "air briefing pane" ... keep those hidden when not using them. They slow the game.

and make sure you at least have most recent patch or the patch right before that one.

I hope this helps!

A lot of "Off" in the proposed configuration with the consequence much less fun to play, but the "Caps Log-ON" solution seems to really speed up the game (even if I don't understand the reason). I will also try the "PNG compatibility-Off" and the shortcut to the ".Exe" file... Thanks a lot...

Yes, there are some things I miss, like sound (but I make up for that with queuing up period music or sounds from the youtube ... e.g., soviet / german marching music.

The toawlog and sitrep features, I turn on and off as the need or whim strikes. Some of it is a matter of taste.

But I still get as much fun out of it. Here are some links I use when I want the military music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFxLqT-PLEE Soviet WWII marching musics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMGmImi4GF8 German WWI marching music

Archive.org has some interesting recordings of period Old Time Radio, for example

https://archive.org/details/WWII_News_1942 is Old Time Radio news etc. I use for background when Playing Campaign North Africa

Tons of sound you can use for background. The stock / default musics I found to be too repetitive for my taste so I do not miss the background music.

Well, I hope the game is more fluid with these suggestions! Have a great day!

Thank you very much for the links. Personally, I like to play with the sounds of distant fights (they are the same as in the old Talonsoft series which remains my favourite). I also found some great ones on the internet (it's funny and paradoxical but they are very relaxing but I can't transfer the links?). On the other hand I love the idea of playing with the sounds of the old radio broadcasts. I had never thought about it and I tried it, it's really fun and immersive...thanks again.

Glad you found them helpful! I pretty much listen to nothing BUT Old Time Radio of all kinds all the day long, playing or not. Here is another link if you like that sort of thing it is

https://radio.macinmind.com/

and sometimes I binge on things like X Minus One or other old time radio at

https://archive.org/details/oldtimeradio

best of all ...... NO COMMERCIALS!! except maybe the old commercials from the 40s / 50s that were part of the programs.

Well, have a great day!
